ABVP protest over GCAS glitches turns chaotic, office gate broken during demonstration

The Gujarat Common Admission Services (GCAS) portal controversy intensified in Ahmedabad after members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged aggressive protests outside the Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat (KCG) office over alleged technical failures and unresolved student issues linked to the admission system.
According to reports, the protest continued for nearly an hour as students and ABVP workers demanded immediate resolution of repeated glitches on the GCAS portal. Demonstrators alleged that despite continuous technical problems affecting admissions, authorities failed to provide any concrete solution or satisfactory response to students.
As part of the protest, a large rally was taken out from the Gujarat University campus to the GCAS office, with students raising slogans against the administration and demanding permanent fixes to the portal issues.
Tension escalated after protesters reached the GCAS office, where the main gate had reportedly been shut as a security measure. A confrontation then broke out between police personnel and ABVP workers, following which protesters allegedly forced their way inside the premises.
ABVP workers claimed that senior officials refused to meet students or address their grievances despite repeated requests. The situation further worsened when angry protesters allegedly broke the office’s main entrance gate during the demonstration.
Following the commotion, police intervened to prevent protesters from advancing further inside the office premises. Protesters later staged a sit-in outside the office, raised slogans against the administration, and sang Ramdhun as part of their demonstration.
