Abandoned cannabis packets worth over ₹16 crore seized near Dwarka

Adding to the rising drug smuggling nuisance on Gujarat’s shores, a consignment of 30 packets of charas (cannabis concentrate) was found abandoned near the coastal areas of Dwarka on the night of June 7.
The consignment contained approximately 32.053 kilograms of high-quality heroin valued at around ₹16.02 crore rupees.
According to police sources, the Dwarka police along with the SOG (Special Operations Group) conducted patrolling along the coastline near Mithapur road, leading to the coastal areas near Rupen Bandar and Varvala village.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Hardik Prajapati and the police staff swiftly reached the site during the night and discovered three bundles hidden among the stones and sand, containing a total of 30 packets of plastic. Upon inspection, all these packets were found to contain cannabis.
Following the registration of a complaint by the Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Suva under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act), the matter was noted by the Dwarka police.
The case was later handed over to PSI NH Joshi of Mithapur. Combing operations and extensive checks were conducted by the police during the night.
To strengthen coastal security, various sections of the district police conduct boat checks through different pieces of equipment. Patrols are conducted extensively in the coastal areas through patrolling across the district.
This entire operation was carried out by police staff including LCB’s PI KK Gohil, PI KS Patel of Dwarka, and others.
Two months ago, a large quantity of drugs was seized in the Dwarka area. Earlier, a major drug racket was busted here and a Nigerian national and other persons were caught with crores of rupees worth of drugs.
