Around 90 Mahakumbh pilgrims were left stranded after the private bus operator failed to turn up in Modasa.
The group of 90 pilgrims, eagerly anticipating their spiritual journey to Prayagraj and five other religious sites, found themselves stranded on Tuesday morning after their tour bus failed to arrive. The trip, organised by Patel Tour & Travels, was an eight-day pilgrimage for which each participant had paid ₹7,999 online.
The pilgrims had gathered at the designated departure point in Modasa at 10 am, only to realise that there was no sign of the promised transport. Contacting the tour operator proved futile, as all their phones were switched off.
The office of Patel Tours and Travels, in Modasa’s Annapurna Complex, on the first floor had organised an 8-day tour to places including Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath, and Ujjain. The tour organisers had issued a pamphlet which mentioned that interested pilgrims would have to pay ₹7,999 online.
However, the tour operators failed to turn up with the luxury bus, defrauding over 90 pilgrims of ₹7,19,910.
The pilgrims filed a complaint against the tour operator with Modasa town police on Tuesday.
