A nine-year-old boy was injured after being attacked by a pet Rottweiler dog in Ahmedabad’s Vastrapur area on Wednesday.

According to the complaint, Dineshbhai Kantilal Rot was working at a bungalow in Lad Society when the incident took place. His son Ashwin was sitting outside and playing a game on a mobile phone.

Meanwhile, a woman living in the society reportedly brought her pet Rottweiler, named Heju, outside and let it loose. The dog suddenly attacked the child and bit him on the head and near the eye, causing injuries.

The frightened boy tried to escape and took shelter behind a parked motorcycle. Residents who witnessed the incident rushed to help and rescued him from the dog.

Ashwin was immediately taken to a hospital, where he received treatment and stitches for his injuries.

Following the incident, the boy’s father filed a complaint against the dog’s owner, Alpaben Hiteshkumar Rajput, at Vastrapur Police Station.

Officials from the Amdavad Municipal Corporation’s Cattle Nuisance Control Department also visited the area and checked details related to the dog’s registration and vaccination. Reports said the dog was later sent to a farmhouse in Khambhat by its owner.

The incident has once again raised concerns about the safety of residents, especially children, around powerful pet dog breeds. It may be recalled that a young girl had reportedly died in a similar Rottweiler attack in Ahmedabad’s Hathijan area some time ago.
