85 booked including AAP leaders in Botad violence between police, farmers

Botad witnessed a clash between police and farmers who were gathered for ‘mahapanchayat’ in Botad's Hadadad on Sunday evening.

Visuals from the scene showed stones being hurled at police vehicles, forcing authorities to fire tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.

Paliyad police booked 85 people, including leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party.

Sharing details of the entire clash, Dharmendra Sharma, superintendent of police at Botad said, “A video of an argument over cotton quality and prices at the Hadadad marketing yard in Botad went viral on social media. Subsequently, Gujarat AAP leader Rajubhai Karpada, through social media, announced a gathering at the Hadadad marketing yard.”

On September 10, 2025, Karpada, local AAP office-bearer Parshottambhai Rathod, and other party workers assembled at the Hadadad marketing yard and addressed supporters during an auction.

Later, AAP leaders and workers — including Isudan Gadhvi, Gopal Italia, Rajubhai Karpada, and Pravinbhai Ram — again called, via different social media platforms, for a Mahapanchayat at the Botad marketing yard on September 12, 2025, at 4 pm, asking party workers to gather in large numbers.

In response, Botad district police deployed adequate security arrangements to maintain law and order.
