80 cattle killed after trailer overturns on Varahi highway in Kutch

In an accident on the Varahi highway, a trailer crashed into a herd of cattle, resulting in the death of at least 80 animals. The incident occurred near Darshan Hotel, around 500 metres from the Varahi Bridge, on Monday around 8 pm.
According to the complaint filed by Bhima Rabari, a resident of Bhachau in Kutch, he along with his companions, Dadu Rabari and Rupa Rabari, had begun a journey eight months ago, walking with approximately 150 cattle from Bhachau to Kadi in search of grazing land.
With the onset of the monsoon, the group had begun their return journey to Bhachau around six to seven days ago. On Monday evening, while they were resting near Darshan Hotel, a speeding trailer coming from the Radhanpur, veered off course and plowed into the herd.
Total 76 cattle were killed on the spot. An additional 47 injured animals were rushed to a nearby veterinary hospital for treatment, where four more succumbed to their injuries during medical care.
Following Rabari’s complaint, local police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to identify the driver.
