A passenger boat capsized near the Gambhira Bridge in the Mahisagar River in Padra taluka of Vadodara district. Around eight passengers on board fell into the river. However, prompt action by locals and nearby boatmen rescued all of them.

According to sources, the passengers were travelling from Padra towards Gambhira by boat when the vessel lost balance, reportedly due to strong water currents, and overturned midstream. Following the incident, people raised alarms, prompting immediate rescue efforts by local swimmers and boat operators who pulled all passengers out of the river.

The incident highlights growing safety concerns after the closure of the Gambhira Bridge, which connects Padra in Vadodara district with Anand district. Since the bridge was declared unsafe and shut to vehicular traffic, commuters have been forced to rely on boats to cross the river, risking their lives to avoid long detours by road.
