A plane carrying 8 Gujaratis who were deported from the United States arrived at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad from Amritsar on Sunday morning at 10.50 am.

As many as 116 Indians who had illegally entered the US were deported in the second US military plane that arrived at Amritsar airport on Saturday night at 11.40pm. 

Following necessary immigration procedures, the eight Gujaratis were flown to Ahmedabad under police supervision. Authorities have ensured strict security measures outside the airport, with a significant police presence deployed.

Tight security at Ahmedabad airport

Upon arrival in Ahmedabad, the deported individuals were escorted by local police, IB (Intelligence Bureau), and SOG (Special Operations Group) officials. The police have cordoned off the arrival gate, ensuring smooth proceedings. Statements of the deported individuals are currently being recorded as part of the ongoing investigation into their illegal migration.

As per reports, two police vehicles from Mehsana and Gandhinagar districts have reached the airport, and all deportees will be handed over to authorities in their respective districts for further questioning and legal procedures.

Upcoming deportations in third phase

Meanwhile, authorities have confirmed that another batch of deportees is expected to arrive in Amritsar tonight (February 16) at 10 pm. This group will include 157 Indians who had illegally entered the United States and are being repatriated under immigration enforcement measures.

First phase of deportations

This repatriation follows the first phase where 33 Gujaratis were sent back to India. These efforts are part of an ongoing crackdown on illegal immigration, with authorities working to identify and take action against agents facilitating such unlawful entries.

As the investigation continues, officials are expected to examine the circumstances under which these individuals attempted to enter the US illegally and take necessary legal action against those responsible for orchestrating the illegal migration routes.
