A 66-km stretch of the Delhi–Vadodara Expressway between Vadodara and Godhra has been opened for traffic on a trial basis from April 13.

The section, developed under the Bharatmala project, runs from Bhamaiya village near Godhra in Panchmahal district to Dodka village in Savli taluka near Vadodara. The eight-lane, access-controlled expressway will eventually link with the Vadodara–Ahmedabad Expressway.

Authorities said the trial run has begun ahead of the formal inauguration, which will be held at a later date.

The opening of the stretch is expected to improve connectivity between Godhra, Kalol and Vadodara, while also easing traffic congestion on existing highways. It is likely to reduce travel time for commuters heading towards Indore in Madhya Pradesh.

The newly opened patch is part of the Delhi-Mumbai Express Highway, which will cut the travel time between two cities to 12 hours.

At present, traffic is operational on parts of the corridor between Navsari and Vadodara in south Gujarat, while work on other sections towards Delhi is ongoing.

Currently, no toll tax is collected on this highway, but toll tax will be collected as soon as the elections in Gujarat are over.

Expressway Entry and Exit Points

This expressway is access-controlled, meaning entry and exit will only be allowed at designated locations. A total of 90 entry and exit points will be developed along the entire stretch.
