Cable operator shoots himself to death in Jodhpur, Ahmedabad

A 50-year-old cable distributor, identified as Rameshbhai Bhagwandas Thakor, allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself with a revolver at his residence in Falguni Tenement, Jodhpur village, on Friday night.
According to Anandnagar police, the incident occurred around 9.15 pm when Thakor was sitting in the hall of his home. His family members rushed him to Shalby Hospital in a private vehicle, where doctors declared him dead at 10 pm.
Police said Thakor, who ran a GTPL cable distribution business in Jodhpur, had been suffering from multiple health problems, including severe back pain caused by vein complications, diabetes, and insomnia. His son told investigators that Thakor had often expressed despair about his deteriorating health and had remarked on several occasions that “it was better to die than to live in such pain”.
At the time of the incident, his wife Sonalben and younger son Yug were at home, while his elder son was at his office. A friend, Ashish Thakor, who had come to collect a delivery parcel at the house, informed the family after hearing the gunshot.
Police said preliminary inquiry and the statement of his family members suggest that Thakor took the extreme step due to prolonged illness and health-related distress. An inquest panchnama has been conducted and the body sent for postmortem at Civil Hospital, Asarwa.
A case has been registered and further investigation is being carried out by Anandnagar police. The police are also investigating if the gun belonged to him or he had procured it from someone.
