The Gujarat Fair Price Association (GFPA) has announced to refrain from paying the challan for June supplies as 50% of Fair Price Shops are yet to receive supplies for the May.

The government supplies food grains at reasonable prices to the registered fair price shopkeepers which is then supplied to lakhs of customers in Gujarat at reasonable prices every month. However, around 50%  of the shopkeepers have not received the stock of the food grains from authorities for May, despite paying the amount in advance, claimed the association.

Following the delay in the supply, the GFPA, which consists of around 17,000 fair price shopkeepers, have released a video and called for a halt to the advance payment for the stock of June if the May supply is not received by the shops by May 21.

The association has also questioned how the government has fixed the date of payment but there is no fixed date or quantity for the supply.
