Alongside the reshuffling of 50 IAS officers on Jan 30, five more bureaucrats are set to be retired from their positions in the state today.

The officers set to be transferred include:

Mukesh Puri

Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, and additional charge as Managing Director, GSFC and Sardar Sarovar Nigam.

Puri is regarded as one of the most trustworthy officers in the state, and his departure would vacate three important charges falling under him. It is also seen that Puri could be given an extension, and assigned another important position.

KM Bhimjiyani

Secretary, Expenditure, Finance department

As the state prepares to present its budget for the 2024-25 tenure, the vacancy of the secretary of expenditure is seen to be filled at a priority.

It is believed that the government could give an additional charge for this post till the budget is presented.

MA Gandhi

Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC)

He is likely to continue his charge at Gujarat Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act (GujRERA).

DK Parekh

Director, Information Department

Parekh is likely to be given charge as Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Chief Minister’s Office.

Other officers transferred:

Ajay Tomar, Surat police commissioner is also likely to be transferred today.

On top of that, Chandrashekhar, Inspector General (IG), Surat-range, has been deputed to the central bureau of investigation (CBI), vacating his position.

Alongside, superintendent of police (SP) positions at Ahmedabad-Rural, Anand, and Mehsana remain vacant.

As of now, the number of bureaucrats in the state have been falling short of its requirement. It is seen that the government could allocate several departments after the state budget in February.
