₹4 lakh of construction material stolen from open plot in Ahmedabad’s Shilaj

Unidentified thieves allegedly decamped with dome construction material worth approximately ₹4.24 lakh from an open plot in Shilaj village on the outskirts of Ahmedabad.
A complaint filed at Bopal Police Station states the theft took place from a rented open space along the Shilaj–Sancharda Road, where material had been stored for the construction of a large dome-style godown.
Pareshbhai Patel (51), a resident of Shilaj and director of Vardayini Power Pvt Ltd, stated that his company, which is engaged in lighting, power generation and HVAC services, employs around 60 workers and operates multiple godowns in and around Shilaj village.
As part of plans to construct a new godown, Patel had rented an open plot measuring. The dome construction material was purchased from a decoration firm in Sanand and transported to the site on January 24 in trucks.
Police said the material included pillars, rafters, cutters and purlins, was unloaded around 7 pm at the site. The goods were reported to be intact until the evening of January 25.
However, on January 26 morning, Patel was informed by one of his company electricians that a portion of the material had gone missing. Upon reaching the site, Patel found that 20 pillars, 80 rafters measuring eight feet each, and 20 rafters were missing.
The stolen material weighed approximately 5,300 kg, taking the total estimated loss to ₹4.24 lakh.
Following the complaint, Bopal police registered a case of theft against unknown persons and initiated an investigation.
