306 people reported missing in Vadodara rural in 14 months, women account for majority of cases

The number of women reported missing in rural areas of Vadodara district continues to be a matter of concern. Police records show that during 2025 and the first two months of 2026, a total of 306 people were reported missing. The number of missing women was much higher than that of men.

According to data, 205 adults went missing in 2025. Among them, 135 were women and 70 were men. In the first two months of 2026, another 101 people were reported missing, including 36 women and 65 men.

These figures bring the total number of missing persons during the period to 306. Out of the 205 people who went missing in 2025, police found 177. These included 124 women and 53 men. Similarly, during the first two months of 2026, police traced 69 missing persons, including 41 women and 28 men.

Police said that the highest number of missing cases has been reported from the Waghodia police station area, Manjusar GIDC, Padra industrial area, Karjan taluka, and Dabhoi taluka. On the other hand, the lowest number of missing cases has been recorded in the police station areas of Desar, Bhadarwa, Chandod, and Shinor.

A total of 246 missing persons were traced during the period. Many of them were safely reunited with their families, while in some cases the missing individuals were found dead. 56 people, including 29 men and 27 women, are still untraced, and efforts are continuing to locate them.

To strengthen efforts to locate missing persons, the Gujarat Police recently conducted ‘Operation Milap’, a special state-wide drive. With this operation, the total number of missing persons traced in the district reached 38 during the campaign period. All recovered individuals were reunited with their families.
