3 adulterated ghee factories busted in Surat’s Amroli, 9,919 kg seized worth ₹67 lakh

Ahead of Diwali, the Surat City Special Operations Group (SOG) uncovered a large racket manufacturing adulterated ghee in Amroli. Acting on a tip-off, the SOG raided three factories along with three godowns and an office, seizing 9,919 kilograms of adulterated ghee valued at over ₹67 lakh. Four people, including three from Deesa, Banaskantha, were arrested.
According to officials, the accused had been producing adulterated ghee for the past two years and selling it at lower-than-market rates to grocery shops in slum areas and in nearby districts.
The raids were carried out based on information received by SOG PI A S Sonara and executed by PSI M D Hadiya’s team, including head constable Jagshibhai Shantibhai and constable Devendradan Gambhirdan. Acting swiftly, the team searched multiple locations in Amroli which included, Shri Madhav Dairy,
New Adinath Dairy, and a factory unit at Kosad Dagam village.
During these operations, the police caught Jayeshkumar Mahesuriya and three others red-handed while manufacturing the duplicate ghee.
From these locations, the SOG seized adulterated ghee, raw materials, and machinery.
Total seizure
9,919 kg of duplicate ghee worth ₹67,00,550.
Raw material and machinery worth ₹53,55,950.
Total seized property: ₹1,20,59,500.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused had been running the racket for two years. They produced low-quality, adulterated ghee, which they distributed mainly in slum areas to small grocery shops and in neighboring districts, selling it at cheaper rates than branded products.
An FIR has been registered at Amroli Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
