26-year-old man stabbed to death in Ahmedabad

A 26-year-old man was stabbed to death late on Wednesday night in Behrampura in Ahmedabad, allegedly following a sudden confrontation near Alankar Motor Driving School, police said. The incident has led to the registration of a murder case at the Gaekwad Haveli Police Station.
The deceased has been identified as Akash, a resident of Jamalpur. The case was lodged by the victim’s elder sister, Jayera Babubhai. The attack took place around 10 pm on January 21 when Akash was returning home with friends.
As per the complaint, Akash was riding on a motorcycle with his friends Rajubhai Khodana and Sonu Dineshchandra Raval after visiting Ratan Pol near Gaekwad Haveli. In front of Alankar Driving School, their motorcycle was allegedly intercepted by three persons riding a scooter. One of them was identified as Meet alias Lalo Rathod, a resident of Suvidha Flats in Behrampura, while the other two remain unidentified.
The FIR states that after deliberately blocking and hitting the motorcycle, the accused chased Akash as he tried to flee. When Akash attempted to take shelter by boarding a passing autorickshaw, Meet alias Lalo allegedly attacked him with a knife, stabbing him in the stomach. Despite being grievously injured, Akash tried to escape but was chased again and stabbed multiple times in the abdomen, head, chest, thigh and shoulder, causing him to collapse on the roadside.
Friends accompanying Akash rushed to his aid and called the emergency 108 ambulance service. He was shifted to the Trauma Ward of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead during treatment due to multiple stab injuries and severe blood loss.
Police officials said that a case of murder has been registered based on the complaint, and statements of eyewitnesses, including Rajubhai Khodana and Sonu Rawal, have been recorded. A coroner’s report and post-mortem examination have been initiated to establish the precise cause of death.
“The prime accused has been identified, and efforts are on to trace and arrest him along with the two accomplices who fled the scene,” a senior police officer said, adding that CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined to reconstruct the sequence of events.
