25 seized bikes destroyed in fire at Khadia Police Station

A fire broke out in a parking area of the Khadia Police Station on Friday afternoon, gutting around 25 seized motorcycles kept as case property, officials said. Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Service tenders rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading further.
According to preliminary information, the fire erupted around 4.20 pm in the open parking space where muddamal (seized property) two-wheelers were parked. Thick smoke was seen billowing from the area, triggering panic among police personnel and nearby residents.
Fire brigade vehicles from nearby stations were immediately pressed into service. Firefighters managed to douse the flames after sustained efforts, officials said, adding that cooling operations were carried out to rule out the possibility of a flare-up.
“Nearly 25 motorcycles appear to have been damaged in the fire. Fortunately, no injuries or loss of life have been reported,” a senior fire department official said.
While the incident did not result in casualties, it caused significant damage to government property and seized vehicles, police said. The affected motorcycles were reportedly part of ongoing investigations and cases registered at the Khadia Police Station.
Police and fire department teams have launched a joint inquiry to ascertain the exact cause of the fire. Preliminary assessments are examining possibilities such as a short circuit, overheating, or other accidental factors, officials said, adding that a detailed report is awaited.
Senior police officers visited the site and said further action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
