Sanand GIDC police have arrested 25 persons, including three women, in connection with a group clash and stone-pelting incident reported from Kalana village in Sanand taluka. The arrests follow an intensive investigation that included the examination of a video clip that surfaced after the violence, police said on Thursday.

According to officials, the video shows an argument between a minor and one of the accused, identified as Shahrukh Pathan, near the Kalana village pond. The altercation reportedly began over a dispute related to ‘staring’ at each other and soon escalated, drawing in members of two groups. The confrontation later turned violent, with both sides allegedly pelting stones at each other.

Police said that around 60 people were detained for questioning in the immediate aftermath of the incident. Of these, 25 have been formally arrested and will be produced before a court. Officials added that five of the arrested accused have prior criminal records and have previously been booked under various offences.

To prevent any further flare-ups, the police have continued intensive security operations in Kalana village. For the third consecutive day, a large-scale combing operation was carried out, involving one Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), five Police Inspectors, eight Police Sub-Inspectors, and around 100 police personnel, officials said.

Confirming the developments, Om Prakash Jat, Superintendent of Police, Ahmedabad Rural, said that sustained preventive measures were being taken to maintain law and order in the village and to identify all those involved in the violence.

Sanand GIDC police stated that further investigation is underway to establish the individual roles in the stone-pelting incident and to examine additional video footage and evidence linked to the incident.
