244 positions await recruitment with state Fire Brigade

After the horrible Rajkot fire tragedy that shook the state to its core, the authorities have taken action against fire safety in the state.

Amid the heightened measures and checking of fire NOCs and fire safety across schools, properties, and other institutes across the state, over 200 positions are vacant in the Fire Brigade Department in the state.

In the last two years, 244 out of 672 positions in the Fire Brigades of municipal corporations/municipalities across 32 districts in Gujarat have remained vacant.

Despite directions from the Gujarat high Court, the government has not initiated recruitment for the vacant positions.

According to reports, most of the employees in the Fire Brigade are on contract.

As fire incidents are on the rise in the state, the vacant positions in the Fire Brigade staff are a major concern.
