24-year-old woman collapses during speech at Surat college, dies moments later

Amid rising concerns over the growing number of heart-attack cases among young people in Gujarat, a deeply tragic incident was reported on November 17 from Surat. A 24-year-old woman collapsed while delivering a speech at J B Dharuka Mahila Arts College in Kapodra and died shortly after. The incident was captured on the college’s CCTV cameras.
According to Kapodra Police, the victim, identified as Jil Sureshbhai Thakkar, lived at Akasheth ni Pol in Raipur, Ahmedabad. She was on stage at the college auditorium addressing the audience when she suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed mid-speech.
She was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
She worked for an IT company, which was conducting a campus drive in Surat. She had travelled from Ahmedabad to participate in the seminar at the college. Police added that her postmortem has been completed, and samples have been collected to determine the exact cause of death. A cardiac arrest seems to be the primary cause at this stage. She is survived by an elder brother and her parents.
