A 23-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and ramming his car into another vehicle at Shyamal Char Rasta, causing damage worth nearly ₹2 lakh.

According to police, the accused has been identified as Ayushkumar Lalbhai Parmar, a resident of Sola in Ahmedabad. He was allegedly driving the car when the accident occurred.

The complainant, Jayeshkumar Hasmukhlal Patel (59), an Army personnel, stated in his FIR that his wife, Bhavanaben, was driving their Baleno around 2.30 am when Parmar’s vehicle, coming from the Jivraj Bridge side, collided with the front left tyre of their car.

The impact damaged the bonnet, front light and side panels of Patel’s car. His wife was shaken but fortunately escaped unhurt. He added that when he reached the spot after being informed by his daughter, he noticed that Parmar appeared heavily intoxicated and admitted to not possessing a valid liquor permit or driving licence.
