210 DNA matched 187 dead bodies of Ahmedabad plane crash victims released

A week after Ahmedabad’s AI171 plane crash tragedy, 210 DNA samples of victims were matched by Thursday (8.30 am).

Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel took to X to inform that 210 DNA samples of victims have matched, and their relatives have been contacted. Number of mortal remains released from the hospital are 187.

Moreover, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has introduced new draft regulations on June 18,  aimed at enhancing aircraft safety by addressing structures that pose potential risks near airports, as per reports.

‘Aircraft (Demolition of Obstructions) Rules, 2025’ draft was released on June 18 and will take effect once it is published in the Official Gazette.

These rules are designed to empower authorities to swiftly act against buildings, trees, or any structures that exceed the permitted height in designated aerodrome zones—an effort seen as a preventive measure to reduce the risk of accidents due to flight path obstructions.

According to the draft, “When a notification has been issued by the Central Government under sub-section (1) of Section 18 of the Act, and the officer-in-charge of the concerned aerodrome suspects that a building or tree is violating the terms of that notification, a copy of it must be served to the property owner as per the procedure in sub-section (3) of the same section.”

The proposed rules mandate that if a structure is found breaching height restrictions, the officer-in-charge can issue a notice to the owner. The owner is then required to provide specific details—including the structure's dimensions and a site plan—within 60 days. Non-compliance may result in enforcement action, such as reducing the height of the structure or demolition.
