20-year-old stabbed to death over pan masala spitting by neighbour in Juhapura
In a chilling incident in Ahmedabad’s Juhapura area, a 20-year-old youth was brutally stabbed to death late on Sunday night following a neighbourhood dispute that spiralled into violence. The deceased, identified as Sufiyan, was allegedly attacked with a knife by a resident, Aryan Arif Khalifa and four others, who are now absconding.
According to police, the incident occurred after a verbal argument broke out between Sufiyan’s father and the accused over the latter spitting pan masala near their home. The altercation escalated when the accused allegedly began assaulting Sufiyan’s father. Sufiyan, who rushed in to intervene, was stabbed multiple times by the accused with a knife, leading to his death. His father was also injured in the scuffle.
Neighbours and passers-by rushed the injured father and son to the hospital, where doctors declared Sufiyan dead. The father is currently under treatment and reported to be stable.
Vejalpur police reached the scene shortly after the incident and have launched a murder investigation. “The accused and the victims were neighbours. The fight initially started over spitting pan masala but quickly turned violent due to underlying tensions between the two families,” said a senior police officer.
Police have identified Aryan Arif Khalifa, while four others remain unidentified in the case. A case of murder and assault has been registered, and statements from eyewitnesses are being recorded.
