2 dead in triple crash near Sanand as dumper overturns on car

A triple-vehicle accident occurred late on Monday night near Virochannagar village in Sanand, Ahmedabad district. The collision involved a tanker, a dumper, and a Thar SUV, resulting in the death of two people.
The accident was so severe that a fire broke out in the vehicles immediately after the collision, causing panic and chaos on the highway.
According to initial information, the accident occurred due to negligent driving by the dumper and tanker drivers. After the collision, the dumper loaded with gravel lost balance and overturned onto a Thar vehicle passing nearby. The heap of gravel buried the occupants inside the car, leading to the on-the-spot death of two individuals.
Police investigation revealed that one of the deceased was a resident of Amthapura village in Sanand, while the identity of the other victim is yet to be confirmed.
Within minutes of the crash, a massive fire erupted, and flames were visible from a distance as the vehicles were completely gutted. The incident led to a long traffic jam stretching several kilometres on the highway.
Fire brigade teams reached the spot and brought the blaze under control late at night.
Following the accident, the drivers of the dumper and tanker fled the scene, abandoning their vehicles. Sanand GIDC Police have registered a case against both drivers and launched a search operation. The damaged vehicles were later removed using cranes, and traffic movement was restored.
