19 Indian cities named in most dangerous in 2025, see where Ahmedabad stands

Delhi, Noida, Bangalore, Gurgaon, and Ghaziabad are named among the top five dangerous Indian cities, according to Numbeo’s crime index report of 2025.

The web database, Numbeo, provides current and timely information on world living conditions including cost of living, housing indicators, health care, traffic, crime and pollution.

Gujarat’s Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Surat feature in the list of 385 dangerous cities across the world.

According to the report, Pietermaritzburg and Pretoria in South Africa, Caracas in Venezuela, and Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea have been ranked among the world’s most unsafe cities. The report, based on residents’ perceptions of crime and safety, reveals striking disparities in urban security across the globe.

The report lists three Middle Eastern cities as the ‘safest’ in the world. Abu Dhabi, UAE, with an exceptionally low crime index of 11.2 and a high safety score of 88.8, has been named the safest in the world. It is closely followed by Ajman, UAE, which recorded a crime index of 14.6 and a safety score of 85.4, and Doha, Qatar, with a crime index of 15.7 and a safety score of 84.3.
