In a shocking incident near Khokhra police station, an 18-yearr-old youth was brutally murdered by two brothers and their accomplice over allegations of stealing ₹8,000 on Tuesday night. The Khokhra police have arrested three accused, including a minor, in connection with the murder and registered a case under charges of murder and atrocity.

The deceased, identified as Shubham Santoshbhai Waghmare, resided in Ramanlal Joshi ni Chali, located opposite the Khokhra police station. On the night of the incident, Shubham was reportedly standing near his house when he was approached by a minor boy, accompanied by his elder brother Ganesh Baweshkar and their friend Sunny Dantani.

The trio accused Shubham of stealing Rs 8,000 and allegedly demanded repayment. Shubham denied the allegation, which led to a heated argument. According to police, while Ganesh and Sunny pinned Shubham down, the minor pulled out a knife and stabbed him multiple times, resulting in his death on the spot.

Speaking to the media, ACP (I Division) Reena Rathwa said, “The murder took place around 9 PM, shockingly just across from the police station. We have arrested all three accused, including the minor. Preliminary investigation suggests the motive was a dispute over money.”

Further investigation revealed that the accused had previously lived in Khokhra before recently shifting to Raipur. The minor had allegedly lent Rs 8,000 to Shubham, and the ongoing tension over repayment had escalated into violence. Police are now probing whether the money in question genuinely belonged to the accused and why Shubham was accused of theft.

The Khokhra police have registered an FIR under murder and atrocity charges and handed over the case to the SC/ST Cell for further investigation. Authorities are also verifying if the minor has a past criminal record or if there were other motives involved.

“We are investigating whether this was purely a financial dispute or if there was any personal enmity behind the killing. Further interrogation is underway,” Rathwa added.

The case has sparked concern in the locality, given the brazenness of the crime and its proximity to the police station.
