Ahmedabad is set to get a state-of-the-art 18-storey Multimodal Transport Hub at Akhbarmagar, where AMTS, BRTS and state transport buses (GSRTC) will be able to park and operate from a single integrated location. The project will be developed on 5,564 sq. m. under the Public–Private Partnership (PPP) model.

According to the proposal, retail outlets will come up on the ground, first and second floors. The third floor will house facilities such as a banquet hall, auditorium, restaurant, gaming zone, and more. The building will also be equipped with a solar rooftop, promoting clean energy usage.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) has invited bids from interested developers to execute the project. The architectural and design work has already been prepared by Jag Designer Pvt Ltd for the final plot near Akhbarnagar Circle. Bidders interested in the project must submit their proposals by December 27, 2025.

Transport Committee Chairman Dharmasinh Desai said that a clearer estimate of the project cost will be available only after evaluating the bids and their technical specifications. The hub is expected to become a world-class passenger facility, easing frequent traffic challenges faced by ST and city buses and providing greater convenience for commuters arriving from outside the city.

The multimodal hub will feature a foot overbridge connecting directly to the nearby metro station, ensuring seamless movement of passengers.

Key highlights of the project include:

  • Covered waiting areas for commuters
  • Electric vehicle charging points for public and private vehicles
  • A podium garden on the fourth floor
  • Three-level basement parking for two-wheelers and four-wheelers

Entry for AMTS, BRTS and ST buses from the 30-metre road on the eastern side, with exit routed through the western road

The metro station lies to the north, while the BRTS terminal is located in the southern direction.
