16 Gujarat Police including 2 IPS officers to receive medals on Republic Day 2026

On the occasion of Republic Day on January 26, 2026, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has announced gallantry and service medals for 16 officers and personnel of the Gujarat Police Force in recognition of their outstanding service.

Of these, two senior IPS officers will be honoured with the prestigious President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM), while 14 officers and personnel will receive the Police Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM).

The following two senior IPS officers from Gujarat have been selected for the President’s Police Medal in recognition of their exceptional and distinguished service record:

Shri Nipuna Torawane (IPS), Additional Director General of Police, presently serving as Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Government of Gujarat

Shri Shaileshsinh Raghuvanshi, Superintendent of Police, Gujarat. 

Police Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM)

Fourteen officers and personnel from different ranks of the Gujarat Police have been selected for the Police Medal for Meritorious Service for their dedication to duty and contribution to maintaining law and order:

Shri M J Chavda (IPS), Superintendent of Police, State Monitoring Cell, Gujarat, Gandhinagar

Shri Dharmendra Desai (SPS), Superintendent of Police, Motor Transport Wing, Gujarat, Gandhinagar

Shri Ghanshyamsinh Sarvaiya, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Gujarat

Shri Vasant Parmar, Sub-Inspector, Gujarat

Shri Sanjay Patil, Police Sub-Inspector, Gujarat

Shri Kripalsinh Rana, Police Wireless Sub-Inspector, Rajkot 

Shri Sunil Deshle, unarmed Assistant Sub-Inspector, Surat 

Shri Girish Desai, Unarmed Assistant Sub-Inspector, Ahmedabad 

Shri Shana Parmar, Armed Head Constable, State Reserve Police Force Group-10

Shri Lalsinh Vihol, Assistant Intelligence Officer, Intelligence Wing, Gujarat, Gandhinagar

Shri Arvind Bhopin Tadvi, Assistant Intelligence Officer, Intelligence Wing, Gujarat, Gandhinagar

Shri Vishnu Desai, Assistant Intelligence Officer, Intelligence Wing, Gujarat, Gandhinagar

These honours have been conferred for exemplary contributions in counter-terrorism operations, disaster relief efforts, crime control, intelligence work, prison reforms, and public safety services across different parts of Gujarat. Despite challenging conditions and limited resources, the awardees demonstrated exceptional commitment to duty, earning national-level recognition for their service.

The Gujarat Home Department and the Director General of Police have congratulated all the medal recipients. The announcement is expected to significantly boost the morale of the Gujarat Police Force.
