15 additional special trains to run from Ahmedabad amid festivities

The increased volume of passengers in the festivities have always challenged Indian Railways. One such stampede-like situation took the life of a youth and injured many at Surat railway station recently, which sparked questions about the railway’s management.

To avoid similar episodes in the future, Ahmedabad railway station and Western Railway have upgraded their operations and train frequencies.

15 festival special trains from Ahmedabad

The Ahmedabad division of the Western Railways has flagged off 45 trips of 15 festival special trains from Ahmedabad to several places in the country.

11 trains will run from Ahmedabad railway station, while two will run from Sabarmati and one from Gandhigram.

The trains will make trips on the following routes:

Ahmedabad - Patna

Ahmedabad - Okha

Ahmedabad - Tiruchirappalli

Ahmedabad - Kanpur central

Ahmedabad - Agra cantt

Gandhigram - Bandra terminus

Sabarmati - Danapur

Ahmedabad - Samastipur

Ahmedabad - Patna

Sabarmati - Delhi Sarai Rohilla

Ahmedabad - Katihar

Ahmedabad - Samastipur

Ahmedabad - Darbhanga

Ahmedabad - Barauni special train

On top of that, 139 additional coaches have also been added in five different pair of trains.

Arrangements at Ahmedabad railway station

Seven unreserved ticketing system (UTS) counters have been made operational, with three at Ahmedabad, two at Sabarmati, and one each at Gandhigram and Asarwa railway stations.

Many railway officials have also been deployed at Ahmedabad and Sabarmati stations to control the festive rush.

Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel have also been deployed in numbers to control the crowd at entry and exit points and platforms, as well as at the entry gates of train coaches.

Besides, the sale of platform tickets has also been stopped to prevent crowds from accumulating at the station.
