134 fishermen from Gujarat in Pakistani prisons

As many as 134 fishermen from Gujarat are incarcerated in Pakistani prisons. The number is the highest of any state in the country.
According to the signing of the 'India-Pakistan Agreement Access' on May 21, 2008, India and Pakistan have to exchange details of how many common citizen-fishermen are in prison in each other's prisons in January and July every year.
According to such a list given on July 1, 2024, a total of 211 Indian citizen-fishermen are in Pakistani prisons. In which 134 fishermen from Gujarat are included.
According to this list, it has also come to light that two fishermen from Gujarat have died in Pakistani prisons.
Out of the 209 fishermen currently in Pakistani jails, 51 fishermen have been in Pakistani jails since 2021, 130 fishermen since 2002, and 9 fishermen since 2023.
This year, 19 fishermen have been arrested by Pakistan.
