In the ongoing Gujarat Assembly, the government presented data regarding child beggars and their rescue operations. According to that, 134 child beggars were identified and rescued from seven districts, including Ahmedabad, over the past year. These children were handed over to their parents, except for seven who could not be reunited with their families.

As per the data presented in the Gujarat Assembly (as of January 31, 2025), the highest number of child beggars were found in Surat, where 86 children were rescued. Among them, 80 were reunited with their parents, while six were handed over to the Child Welfare Officer.
