A 12-year-old girl in Surat tragically took her own life after accidentally dropping her mother’s mobile phone into a bucket of water, fearing her parents’ reaction.

Jenisha’s father works for Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), while her mother is employed with Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC).

The incident occurred at their Jay Ranchod Apartment in Katargam, Surat, when the parents were not present at home.

Jenisha, who was at home with her younger sister, went into a room and hanged herself from the ceiling fan using a cloth. A few minutes later, her younger sister saw Jenisha and called for help from neighbours. However, by the time the neighbours arrived, Jenisha had already lost her life.

She was rushed to SMIMER Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

During the police investigation, a suicide note was recovered, in which Jenisha had written: “Mother, please forgive me. I accidentally dropped the phone. Please don’t cry for me. Also, take care of my younger sister and brother.”
