Large potholes reappeared on the Jambuva river bridge near Vadodara, causing massive traffic jams between Bharuch and Vadodara. Commuters were stuck in jams stretching about 10 km from Jambuva to Varna, struggling in the heavy rains. Despite the highway authority’s claims of repairing the bridge, thousands of commuters once again faced serious difficulties.
Due to waterlogging, many vehicles got stuck in the deep potholes, bringing the traffic to a crawl. One frustrated commuter said he had left Bharuch at 8 am but, even after two hours, had still not reached Vadodara. Drivers coming from Por also complained that this has now become a daily ordeal. Emergency vehicles too were caught in the jam.
Many alleged National Highway Authority of India of inferior quality of work in repairing these roads recently. As soon as the first rains hit after repairs, potholes reappeared.
Repeated traffic jams on the national highway have left commuters in endless trouble. In fact, due to potholes on the Jambuva bridge, nine major traffic jams have occurred in the past two months alone.
