1 killed, several injured as private bus overturns on Ahmedabad–Bhavnagar Expressway near Dholka

One passenger was killed and several others were injured after a private bus overturned near Kariyana village on the Ahmedabad–Bhavnagar Expressway in Ahmedabad Rural district on Sunday evening, police said.
The accident occurred at around 7.30 pm on June 21 under the jurisdiction of Koth Police Station.
According to preliminary information, the bus was returning to Bhavnagar after passengers attended a family function in Ahmedabad. Around 25 people were travelling in the vehicle when the driver allegedly lost control of the steering wheel near Kariyana village, causing the bus to overturn.
Police said one passenger died in the accident, while three to four others sustained serious injuries. The remaining passengers suffered minor injuries.
Following the incident, local residents alerted police and emergency services. Rescue teams and police personnel rushed to the spot and launched an operation to evacuate passengers trapped inside the overturned vehicle.
All injured passengers were shifted to the Dholka Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment. Officials said those with serious injuries are under observation and may be referred to higher medical facilities if required.
Police secured the accident site and regulated traffic on the expressway while the damaged bus was removed from the road.
Preliminary findings indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle. However, police said the exact cause of the accident, including whether overspeeding, mechanical failure or driver fatigue contributed to the crash, will be determined after a detailed investigation.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
