A massive fire erupted at a key power sub-station operated by the DNH & DD Power Corporation in Patalara village, Moti Daman, on Saturday night, triggering widespread panic and cutting electricity supplies across several surrounding regions. Flames billowed high into the night sky, visible from kilometres away, as emergency services rushed to contain the blaze.

More than seven fire tenders from Daman and neighbouring industrial pockets were dispatched to the scene, where firefighters mounted a continuous water assault to bring the raging inferno under control.

Firefighters Battle Flames As Cause Remains Unknown

The fire broke out unexpectedly inside the high-voltage power facility during the evening hours. The rapid spread of the blaze prompted immediate evacuations of non-essential personnel and mobilized high-level responses from local administration and law enforcement.

Senior officials from the DNH & DD Power Corporation, along with teams from the local police department, arrived at the Patalara complex to oversee emergency measures. As operations continued late into the night, fire crews struggled to completely douse the flames, working to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent transformer units and grid infrastructure.

Power Supply Cut Across Moti Daman

To prevent further electrical hazards and protect field personnel, authorities suspended power transmission across Moti Daman and adjacent districts. The sudden blackout left thousands of residents in darkness, disrupting local businesses and daily life.

Officials stated that a full investigation into the cause of the fire will begin once firefighters completely extinguish the blaze and cool the affected site. Initial assessments of the structural damage and power restoration timelines are expected following a thorough safety audit by technical teams.
