Gujarat Assembly Monsoon Session Rescheduled, To Begin On September 9

The dates for the ninth monsoon session of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly have been revised, with the three-day session now scheduled to begin on September 9 instead of September 8.

According to information issued by the Gujarat Legislative Assembly Secretariat, Governor Acharya Devvrat had earlier summoned the ninth session to begin on September 8, following an order issued on August 3, 2026.

However, on Monday, August 31, the Governor cancelled the earlier order and issued a fresh summons. Under the revised schedule, the Assembly will now meet on September 9, 10 and 11.

Three-Day Session To Take Up Government Business

The brief monsoon session is expected to take up several items of legislative and government business.

The agenda will primarily include government business, introduction and consideration of new government bills, the final-day motion and other matters recommended by the Business Advisory Committee.

The change in dates has also resulted in a corresponding revision to the Assembly's programme.

Starred Questions To Be Taken Up During Question Hour

Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary has decided that, following the change in the session dates, starred questions will now be taken up during the scheduled Question Hour on September 9, 10 and 11.

The revised schedule means the Assembly will function for three consecutive days, with legislative and government business planned across the shortened monsoon session.
