Gandhinagar LCB Seizes Liquor Worth ₹4.40 Lakh From SUV, One Arrested

The Gandhinagar Local Crime Branch (LCB) seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), beer and other property worth ₹9.50 lakh after intercepting a Hyundai Creta near Indroda Park, arresting one person while another suspect allegedly fled the spot.

The operation was carried out on Tuesday as part of a special drive against prohibition and gambling-related offences across Gandhinagar district.

2,796 Liquor Bottles And Beer Cans Seized

Acting on specific information, an LCB team intercepted a white Hyundai Creta on the road between Indroda Park and Indroda Circle in Sector-7.

During a search of the vehicle, police recovered 2,796 bottles and beer cans of IMFL packed in 78 cartons. The liquor was valued at ₹4.40 lakh.

Police also seized the Hyundai Creta, valued at ₹5 lakh, and a mobile phone worth ₹10,000, taking the total value of the seized property to ₹9.50 lakh.

One Arrested, Driver Allegedly Escapes

Police arrested 27-year-old Sukhdevsinh Rajusinh Udesinh Chauhan, a resident of Hasanpur village in Palanpur taluka of Banaskantha district.

According to police, the vehicle's driver, identified only as Jugo, fled during the raid. His full identity is yet to be established, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest him.

Probe Into Liquor Supply Network

A prohibition case has been registered in connection with the seizure.

Police are investigating the source of the liquor and its intended destination. They are also examining whether the accused are linked to a wider inter-district liquor smuggling network.
