Zakhir Khan cites genetic illnesses as reasons for stepping back from comedy
A famous stand - up comedian, Zakhir Khan, announced that he will be taking a long break from comedy to focus on his health concerns as a key reason.
The announcement came during his (Papa Yaar tour) show in Hyderabad, where he addressed this news to the audience.
Zakhir revealed that his demanding schedule includes sleeping only a few hours, constant travel, and performing multiple shows a day. Has taken a significant toll on his body. He also shared that certain health issues run in his family and tend to surface with age, making it essential for him to step back and prioritise his well-being.
I'm going on a long break probably till 2028-29 or even 2030. Zakhir told the audience, adding that the timeline mentioned was specific to Hyderabad, as returning to the city will take time once he resumes work.
Reflecting on his journey, Zakhir said that being the first in his family to achieve large-scale success brought immense responsibility, which led him to put work above all else for nearly a decade. However, after his US tour last year, he reportedly realised that balancing health and work was no longer sustainable, promoting the decision to take a break.
The comedian also hinted about his break on Instagram, urging fans to attend his remaining shows before June 20, as he would be unable to perform in many cities this time. Zakir emphasised that while the decision was difficult, it was necessary to ensure long-term health and recovery.
Fans will now have to wait for years to see Zakir back on stage, as he takes time to focus on rest, recovery, and personal priorities.
