Bollywood’s veteran actor Anupam Kher has completed 40 years in the film industry and at 68, the actor continues to work tirelessly.

Anupam Kher has worked in over 500 films during his career and has earned a fortune worth crores. However, surprisingly,  the actor does not own a house and continues to live in a rented one.

In a recent interview, Anupam Kher  said, “I do not have my own house. I live in a rented house in Mumbai. I like paying rent every month.”

Anupam Kher further explained, “I live in a rented apartment because I have decided that I do not want to buy a house. Who should I buy it for? I prefer to pay rent every month and live comfortably. The money I would use to buy a house, I keep in the bank and use it to pay rent.

Anupam Kher also shared his views on money, saying, “I donate a part of my earnings to charity and want to do something that people will remember me for. I believe that money should be used for the good of society, not just to accumulate material wealth.”

Although Anupam Kher did not buy a house for himself, he fulfilled his mother's dream of owning a home. Anupam gifted her a luxurious eight-bedroom apartment in Shimla. His mother had always wanted him to build a house in Shimla, as she had been living in a rented house there.

Anupam Kher said, “Seven years ago, I used to joke with my mother and say, ‘I’m a big star, so if you have any wishes, feel free to tell me.’ I thought she would say, ‘No, I don’t want anything,’ but she immediately replied, ‘I want a house in Shimla.’ I was surprised because, after my father’s death, we didn’t live in Shimla, but my mother had always lived in a rented house. So, I bought her a luxurious eight-bedroom apartment in Shimla.”

On the work front, Kher’s new film Vijay 69 has recently been released on an OTT platform and is being greatly appreciated by the audience.
