‘The Bengal Files’, a movie by Vivek Agnihotri, is finally set to reach audiences in West Bengal after BJP in West Bengal. The makers hope the film will now be screened in more theatres across the state, allowing viewers in Bengal to watch it for the first time in cinemas.

The makers are reportedly planning to expand the screening to more theatres across West Bengal in the coming days.

Vivek Agnihotri shared a post on X claiming that the film had been blocked in the state. He said that his team faced attacks, FIRs, and cancellation during promotion of the film. Agnihotri also alleged that the West Bengal government had banned the film and stopped theatres from showing it.

He also mentioned that he could not even travel to receive an award from the governor because of the situation in Bengal. According to him, despite all difficulties, the team did not stop promoting the film and continued trying to reach audiences across the state.

Agnihotri said that during the election period, his team managed to show the film to many people in Bengal through special screenings. He added that the team never gave up and continued fighting in their own way to bring the film to audiences.

He also alleged that police officers interrupted the event at a five star hotel and that multiplex owners refused to host the launch even after written permissions were shown.

The filmmaker further claimed that his team members were manhandled during the incident. He accused TMC workers of filing multiple complaints and FIRs against him to stop the release of the movie.

The controversy around The Bengal Files has become more than just a film related dispute. In Bengal’s political situation, the film’s release is once again in the spotlight.
