Student of the Year actor held with 3.5 kg of cocaine worth rs 35 cr at Chennai airport

A Bollywood actor, known for supporting roles in films including Karan Johar’s 2012 release ‘Student of the Year’, was recently caught at Chennai airport with 3.5 kg of cocaine, whose estimated market value is ₹35 crore, as per reports.

A joint team from Customs and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) intercepted the actor at Chennai airport, it was reported. Officials found a false bottom in his checked-in trolley that contained plastic pouches filled with a white powdery substance. A test later confirmed it to be cocaine.

During questioning, the actor revealed that he had travelled from Cambodia to Chennai via Singapore. He reportedly claimed that the trolley bag was handed over to him by unknown individuals in Cambodia, with instructions to deliver it to a receiver at Chennai airport.

However, investigators suspect that his ultimate destination may have been Mumbai or Delhi, where he intended to transport the consignment.

The DRI is now tracking the drug syndicate that allegedly engaged him, while Customs officials are probing his past travel records.

So far, the actor’s identity has not been disclosed. This incident marks the second major cocaine seizure at Chennai airport in the last two weeks.

On September 16, a Kenyan national arriving from Ethiopia was caught with 2 kg of cocaine, while earlier, on September 1, Customs officials seized 5.6 kg of the drug concealed inside Ferrero Rocher chocolate cans from two passengers traveling from Ethiopia.

The narcotics, valued at around ₹35 crore, was reportedly concealed in a false bottom of his luggage. The actor had arrived from Singapore when authorities made the seizure.

Student of the Year (2012), directed by Karan Johar, featured Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, and Sidharth Malhotra in lead roles, along with several other actors in supporting appearances.
