SS Rajamouli expands ‘Bahubali’ universe, announces ₹120 crore animated film

As ‘Bahubali: The Epic’ gets a nationwide release today in India, showing both the parts of franchise in a marathon duration of 3 hour 44 minutes, director SS Rajamouli has announced an expansion to the universe with an animated Bahubali movie.
The animated feature film, set in the same world as Bahubali part one and two, will cost ₹120 crore to make, as per Rajamouli, and will feature voices of Prabhas and Ramya Krishna, who played Amarenra/Mahendra Bahubali and Rajmata Shivagami, respectively, in the earlier installments.
“Ishaan Shuklani is a very talented animation director,” said Rajamouli in a video he reposted on X, announcing the project.
“He (Shuklani) came and told the story of how we can extend the, Bahubali world into something else,” explained Rajamouli to actors Prabhas and Rana Daggubati in the video.
“It is still the Bahubali characters, within that space, but completely, different, taking into a different tangent,” he added.
Rajamouli explained that the team has been working on the 3D animation feature film for two and a half years for now. The video ends with a title card, which reveals the animated movie’s name to be “Bahubali: The Eternalwar Part-I”.
The teaser for this will be played in the interval of Bahubali - Epic, which releases today in multiple premium formats, including IMAX, 4DX, D-Box, Dolby Cinema, and EPIQ. It will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam.
