Sonakshi Sinha Reacts To Jharkhand Student Protest, Says ‘It’s Disheartening To See Students Go Through This’

Actor Sonakshi Sinha has voiced concern over the ongoing student protests in Jharkhand, saying it is “disheartening” to see young people struggling over alleged irregularities in government recruitment examinations.

Sharing her reaction on Instagram Stories, the actor questioned when such issues affecting students would come to an end, as protests demanding a fair investigation continue across the state.

Sonakshi reshared a video explaining the reasons behind the student agitation and expressed solidarity with those taking part in the protests.

“It’s so disheartening to see students of our country go through this… when will it stop???” she wrote.

The video highlighted students’ frustration over alleged paper leaks and recruitment irregularities, which have fuelled widespread demonstrations in Jharkhand.

Why are students protesting?

Thousands of students have been protesting in Ranchi, demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into alleged corruption, irregularities and paper leaks linked to the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examination and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) recruitment examination.

The protests have gathered momentum in recent weeks, with students staging sit-ins at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium and receiving support from several activist groups.

Allegations triggered widespread protests

The controversy escalated last month after an image of an OMR answer sheet, allegedly belonging to a successful candidate in a government recruitment examination, went viral on social media.

The post appeared shortly after the JPSC preliminary examination results were announced and claimed that the candidate had qualified despite attempting only 48 out of 100 questions in the first paper.

The allegations intensified demands for an independent investigation, leading to large-scale demonstrations across Ranchi.

Actor had earlier supported protesting students

This is not the first time Sonakshi has spoken out in support of students.

Earlier, she reacted to allegations of violence during a student march to Delhi’s Jantar Mantar as part of the CJP protest, writing on social media: “20th July… bohot logon ki haddiyaan tooti aur ek Poore Desh ka dil toota. Yaad rakhna.”

The allegations surrounding the recruitment examinations remain under scrutiny, while students continue to demand a transparent investigation and accountability.
