The Supreme Court of India today dismissed a plea by CBI challenging the quashing of Look-out-Circulars (LOCs) issued against actor Rhea Chakroborty, brother Showik, and father, Lt Colonel Indrajit Chakraborty in Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case.

On Friday, the Supreme Court rejected the CBI’s petition, which was filed in response to a previous Bombay High Court ruling that had cancelled the LOCs against her family.

During the hearing, Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan criticised the CBI’s petition as ‘frivolous,’ suggesting it was motivated by the high-profile status of the accused. Justice Gavai remarked, “You are filing such a frivolous petition only because one of the accused is a high-profile person... If you continue this way, we will impose exemplary costs.”

In February, the Bombay High Court had cancelled the CBI’s LOCs at the request of Rhea, her brother, and their father, leading the CBI to challenge that decision in the Supreme Court. This LOC was issued as part of the investigation into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
