Real Kashmir Football Club Gets International Emmy Nomination; Vir Das Earns Third Nod

Real Kashmir Football Club has been nominated for the International Emmy Awards 2026, while comedian Vir Das has secured his third nomination for his Netflix special Fool Volume.

Real Kashmir Football Club Gets Drama Series Nomination

The nominations were announced on September 23, with Real Kashmir Football Club earning a place in the Drama Series category. The SonyLIV series is competing against A Thousand Blows, Careme and Menem.

Starring Manav Kaul and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, the series premiered on SonyLIV in December 2025. Directed by Rajesh Mapuskar and Mahesh Mathai, it is based on the real-life story of Real Kashmir FC, the first professional football club from Jammu and Kashmir.

Kaul welcomed the nomination, describing the series as one of his favourite works and praising the effort of the team behind it.

Vir Das Earns Third International Emmy Nomination

Vir Das has been nominated in the Comedy category for Fool Volume, alongside Division Palermo: Season 2, Man vs Baby and Old Dog, New Tricks.

The nomination marks Das's third appearance among the International Emmy nominees. He was first nominated in 2021 for Vir Das: For India and received his second nomination in 2023 for Vir Das: Landing, for which he won the International Emmy for Best Comedy.

Das is now the only Indian to have received three International Emmy nominations. He said the latest recognition was particularly meaningful because Fool Volume emerged from a period when he had lost his voice.

India Gets Two Nominations

The 2026 nominations give India two entries across the Drama Series and Comedy categories.

Fool Volume premiered on Netflix in July 2025, while Real Kashmir Football Club has brought the story of a Jammu and Kashmir football club to an international awards platform.

The winners of the 54th International Emmy Awards will be announced at a ceremony in New York City on November 23.
