Ranveer Singh to submit fresh apology in Kantara controversy

Actor Ranveer Singh is set to file a revised apology in the Karnataka High Court after facing backlash for mimicking Rishab Shetty during an event, as per reports. The controversy started last year at the International Film Festival of India, where Ranveer copied Rishab’s expressions from the film Kantara: chapter 1 on stage.
As per recent updates, Ranveer’s lawyer reportedly told the court that the actor is ready to submit a new apology affidavit. He has also promised to visit the Chamundi temple to offer prayers and show respect.
Ranveer said that he did not realise at that moment that his actions could hurt religious sentiments. He added that he comes from a different cultural background and was unaware of the sensitivity around the Daiva depiction shown in the film.
However, the complainant in the case, Prashanth Methal, was not satisfied with the first apology. He felt that it did not show true regret. It was also claimed that Rishab Shetty had already asked Ranveer not to mimic him during the event, but he still continued.
Ranveer had earlier shared a public apology, saying his intention was only to praise Rishab’s powerful performance. He also said he respects all cultures and traditions and never meant to offend anyone.
The court has now given time for a revised apology to be submitted. The next hearing of the case is scheduled for April 23.
