In a major development, actor Ranveer Singh has reportedly been banned by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) amid the controversy surrounding his sudden exit from Don 3. The federation reviewed the matter last week before announcing its decision during a press conference on Monday, as per reports.

FWICE has reportedly issued a strict non-cooperation order against the actor, asking members of the film industry not to collaborate with him until the dispute with the producers is resolved. The action follows claims that Excel Entertainment, led by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, suffered losses worth nearly ₹45 crore due to the actor’s reported withdrawal from the project.

In its statement, FWICE reportedly criticised the growing trend of actors leaving films at crucial stages of production. The federation stressed that the entertainment industry functions like one large family where actors, technicians, producers, directors, and workers depend on mutual trust and professional commitment.

According to the federation, abrupt exits by senior actors can disrupt the industry’s working ecosystem and place large productions at financial risk. The controversy reportedly began after Excel Entertainment filed a complaint in April, claiming that Ranveer Singh had signed a three-film agreement with the banner before stepping away from the film.

FWICE Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit reportedly described the issue as ‘very serious’” and warned that such last-minute exits could create instability across the film industry. He stated that the federation would take a decision keeping the larger interests of the industry in mind.

The dispute had also reached the Producers Guild of India, where attempts were reportedly made to mediate between the parties. Reports claimed that extensive pre-production planning and expenses had already been completed before Singh’s alleged departure from the project.

Farhan Akhtar later addressed the uncertainty around the film in an interview, saying that filmmaking often teaches people to ‘expect the unexpected’.

Before Don 3, the franchise comprised two films, directed by Farhan Akhtar, featuring Shah Rukh Khan in the titular role, with Priyanka Chopra and Boman Irani as supporting cast. In the third installment, Singh was slated to replace Khan.

Singh was last seen in Dhurandhar: The Revenge, directed by Aditya Dhar, alongside Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt and others.
