The Punjab and Haryana High Court has reportedly disposed of a petition filed by rapper Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, popularly known as Badshah, in connection with action initiated over alleged objectionable lyrics in his Haryanvi song ‘Tateeree’.

As per reports, Justice Jagmohan Bansal closed the matter on Thursday after Haryana Police informed the court that no coercive action would be taken against the artist, as he has already cooperated with the investigation. The police also confirmed that the lookout circular (LOC) issued against him has been withdrawn.

The issue began after the Haryana State Commission for Women took cognisance of the song, citing concerns over vulgar and inappropriate content. The commission had summoned Badshah to appear in person.

When the rapper failed to appear before the commission in Panipat, Chairperson Renu Bhatia directed police authorities to take action, including possible arrest. She had also warned that his shows would not be permitted in Haryana unless he complied with the summons. Additionally, directions were issued to consider impounding his passport if necessary.

An FIR was registered last week following complaints that the song featured objectionable scenes, including girls in school uniforms dancing inside a Haryana Roadways bus and making suggestive gestures.

Complainants, including social activist Savita Arya and Shiv Kumar of the Shiv Aarti India Foundation, alleged that the song contains sexually suggestive language and visuals that objectify women and minors.

Badshah’s legal counsel maintained that he had been allotted a time slot to appear before the commission. The rapper also issued a public apology through social media, stating that there was no intention to hurt sentiments.
