The unexpected appearance of a live dove during Sabrina Carpenter’s performance at the Grammy Awards drew swift criticism from animal rights group PETA, which condemned the moment as “irresponsible and unkind”.

The organisation expressed concern that the bird may have been distressed by the loud music, bright lights and pressure of a live televised event, calling for greater consideration of animal welfare in high-profile performances, as per reports.

During her performance, Sabrina Carpenter concluded her act by holding a white dove as part of her act.

PETA also reportedly stated that animals should not be treated as props on stage and called on musicians and performers to choose cruelty-free alternatives.

Although Sabrina has yet to respond to the criticism.

Apart from controversy, the performance has received wide attention on social media and in the entertainment industry.
