Nolan praises his movie’s success after the re-release of Interstellar in the US

Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar has become the 10th biggest hit for an IMAX release. The movie was re-released on December 6 worldwide, except in India due to the release of Pushpa 2 in the same week.
Interstellar is one of the most revered movies by the British filmmaker.
This re-release, after a decade, aimed to bring sci-fi audiences back to theaters, as Paramount Studios is committed to a digital future.
In an interview with an American news agency, Nolan said that he was “just gratified by the response” and was “overwhelmed to see a new audience coming to theaters to watch the movie.”
Although it was a re-release, theaters in the US were fully booked. Fans who had watched the movie at home were eagerly waiting to see Interstellar on the big screen but were unable to get tickets.
According to reports, in less than a week of its re-release, the movie earned $4.5 million (₹38.17 crore).
The movie is set in future where the Earth faces a dire environmental crisis, forcing humanity to seek a new home. Former pilot Cooper joins a NASA mission to explore habitable planets through a wormhole near Saturn.
The team navigates strange worlds and grapples with time dilation. Cooper sacrifices himself by plunging into a black hole to send vital data back to Earth.
Inside, he communicates with his daughter, Murphy, across time. Murphy uses this information to save humanity. Cooper survives and reunites with Murphy, now elderly, before venturing back into space.
